Tecolote Merlot

Tecolote Merlot

Note: Bulbs ship starting in October based on availability and your zone, unlike other products. Plant around or after your first frost but before the ground freezes.

Tecolote Merlot produces delicious, gently scented wine-red large blooms on strong stems averaging 18-24”. Each corm will produce 7-10 flowers of ruffled and densely packed petals. Tecolote Merlot is deer-resistant and makes an excellent cut flower. Ranunculus do well in beds, borders, or pots.

Tecolote Merlot is sold in packs of 10.

Planting Instructions:

Plant Ranunculus in the fall for zones 8-11 for spring blooms. In zones 4-7, store the hardened corms in a cool, dark place and plant in early spring for mid-summer blooms.

  1. Soak corms in room temperature water for 3-4 hours; avoid oversoaking.

  2. Choose an area with full sun for planting.

  3. Add compost and a balanced fertilizer to your soil.

  4. Plant corms 9” apart, 2-3” deep, with tentacles facing down in the soil.

  5. Water after planting and continue weekly watering to ensure the corms do not dry out for the remainder of the growing season.
