Introduced in 1918, Mermaid produces very large, 4", single, canary yellow flowers with 5 petals opening to reveal a soft white coloring. Her blooms are slightly scented and borne in clusters with showy red stamens. Mermaid features glossy foliage and wicked thorns. So watch out! This repeat blooming Climber will take off up to 11’ tall so give her lots of space and keep her away from walkways where you may brush up against her. Mermaid is a great choice for covering a large area of fence or trellis for a statement piece in the garden.
